Chisinau International Airport secures ILS CAT III Certification for safe landings in low visibility

Chisinau International Airport, in Moldova, has officially obtained the ILS CAT III certification, a significant milestone that ensures flights can safely operate even in conditions of extremely low visibility. Effective January 23, this certification places the airport among those equipped to handle challenging weather scenarios, enhancing operational reliability and passenger satisfaction.

The ILS CAT III instrument landing system provides pilots with accurate directional and altitude information during landings, allowing aircraft to operate in near-zero visibility. This advanced technology supports vertical visibility as low as 0 meters and horizontal visibility down to 75 meters, depending on crew and airline training. For Chisinau International Airport, this marks a substantial leap forward in reducing delays and cancellations caused by adverse weather conditions, a persistent issue in the past.
