Dead Boys reveal new singer
After some recent drama that caused Dead Boys’ singer Jake Hout (who joined in 2017) to leave, Cheetah Chrome has revealed Jake’s replacement…
There’s been more commotion than usual in the world of Ohio punk legends Dead Boys this year. First, their singer Jake Hout (who joined in 2017) left the band and accused their label Cleopatra Records of using a “fakeass robot A.I.” version of the late original vocalist Stiv Bators‘ voice on their upcoming album, and then Dead Boys’ sole remaining original member Cheetah Chrome told his side of the story, insisting that A.I. was merely used to restore Stiv’s vocals from the “last full song that sounds like a performance” that he recorded. Now, Cheetah has revealed that the band has brought in a new singer, Mark Thorn of UK band Neon Animal.
In a statement posted by Punk News, Cheetah said, “I don’t like being rushed into decisions like this, but we lucked out, Mark Thorn came highly recommended by good friends The Damned and made me sit up and take notice. Looking forward to moving ahead with Mark and tearing shit up in style as usual!” If you’re unfamiliar with Mark, check out a Neon Animal video below.
Cheetah recently said that there are two new records coming out, one with Blondie‘s Clem Burke on drums and Sex Pistols‘ Glen Matlock on bass that he says is being touted as a Dead Boys record against his wishes, and another that he considers “the first Dead Boys record in 40 years.” Stay tuned.
