‘Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty’ Gets an Update from Director

Director Dutch Marich has been hard at work the last several years building out his indie found footage franchise Horror in the High Desert, with three installments thus far released between the first movie back in 2021 and most recent sequel Horror in the High Desert 3: Firewatch just last year. Horror in the High Desert 4, he promises, is coming soon.

The fourth installment in the effectively terrifying found footage saga is titled Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty, and Marich provides an update over on Twitter this week.

The filmmaker tweets, “We’re getting closer to the finish line with HITHD 4: MAJESTY and can’t wait to share it with you all!” He teases, “What secrets lie within Majesty Ranch?”

Additionally, Marich lets us know that he’s working on bringing the Horror in the High Desert films to physical media, with individual releases for each of the installments planned.

“Thank you all so much for asking about physical media because we WANT to get it to you and we WILL. We get several requests for box sets,” Marich tweets. “We’ve been sampling various vendors trying to sort something for both individual releases as well as an ‘evolving’ box set. Right now, we’re focusing on individual releases. We want them to be worth your while!”

For now, all three installments in the Horror in the High Desert franchise – Horror in the High Desert (2021), Horror in the High Desert 2: Minerva (2023), and Horror in the High Desert 3: Firewatch (2024) – are now available on VOD outlets including Prime. You can also stream the first two installments in the series through SCREAMBOX.

In the original Horror in the High Desert, “In July 2017, outdoor enthusiast Gary Hinge went missing in northern Nevada. He was never located. Friends and loved ones recall the events and, for the first time, talk about the horrific conclusion to his fate.”

In Horror in the High Desert 2: Minerva, “In 2018 a string of tragedies unfolded in Northeastern Nevada. A woman was found dead and another would vanish along the same stretch of remote highway. Could these events be linked to the disappearance of Gary Hinge?

And in Firewatch, “As a wildfire bears down on the opposite side of the state, Oscar Mendoza, armed with a secret, takes advantage of the distraction and journeys to Northeastern Nevada in search of missing outdoorsman Gary Hinge’s last known whereabouts.”
