The elegant flagship underscores L’Oréal’s commitment to “redefining in-store luxury beauty experiences” in the channel, said President Emmanuel Goulin in a post on LinkedIn.
CHINA. L’Oréal Travel Retail has opened an elegant Aesop flagship store at the cdf Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay in partnership with China Duty Free Group (CDFG). Stay tuned for our full report soon.
In a post on LinkedIn, L’Oréal Travel Retail President Emmanuel Goulin said: “Our ambition at L’Oréal Travel Retail is to deliver world-class in-store experiences and push the boundaries of retail.
“With the arrival of Aesop, we reaffirm our commitment to curating the most exceptional luxury beauty offerings in travel retail, ensuring discerning travellers have access to the pinnacle of beauty products and immersive experiences.
“This new store invites an important demographic of luxury beauty consumers to discover Aesop’s distinctive design aesthetic and immerse themselves in a unique sensory experience,” he added. “The space is influenced by memories of sunlight refracting through water while swimming, shimmering patterns dancing on the ocean floor and translated into the store’s own unique architecture.”
Dressed in an earthy colour palette, the Aesop store blends the brand’s signature modern and minimalist design aesthetic with a sensory-driven retail environment. It showcases the luxury cosmetics house’s fragrance, skincare, bath, bodycare and home scents via an array of immersive high-touch experiences.
A history of quality, craftsmanship and innovation
Founded in 1987 by hair stylist and beauty entrepreneur Dennis Paphitis, Aesop initially focused on the use of essential oils to treat colour-damaged hair.
Today, the brand offers more than 100 formulations across skincare, bodycare and home fragrances and is available in over 25 countries.
The name Aesop, taken from the ancient storyteller and fabulist, reflects the founder’s Greek heritage and is a sly nod to the often fantastical claims made by the cosmetics industry. Over the decades, Aesop has held on to its distinctive approach, creating products that have become known for their innovative scents, plant-based ingredients and understated amber packaging.
In April 2023, L’Oréal Group acquired Aesop from Natura & Co for an enterprise value of US$2.525 billion, marking a new chapter for the Australian brand.
