Method Man accused of punching man at Staten Island gym, denies allegations
The Wu-Tang Clan rapper wasn’t arrested, but a complaint was filed with the NYPD.
Wu-Tang Clan rapper Method Man (real name Clifford Smith) was reportedly involved in an assault at a Staten Island Crunch Fitness gym, law enforcement sources told the New York Post. He is accused of having punched Patrick Sokoyoa, a 28-year-old described as a “family friend” who reportedly had dated Method Man’s daughter over 10 years ago, seven times in the face “with a closed fist.” Sources also told the Post that Sokoyoa refused medical attention, and that Method Man was not arrested, though a complaint was filed with the NYPD.
A representative for Method Man told the Post, “Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency.”
