This year’s Oscar nominations are being announced today (January 23).
Those in the running for awards at the 2025 Oscars ceremony – which takes place on March 2 – will be confirmed today at 1.30pm (8.30am ET/5.30am PT). Watch the nominations via the live stream below.
The nominations come ahead of the 97th Academy Awards, and will be announced by Wicked and Saturday Night Live (SNL) star Bowen Yang and Bottoms and Shiva Baby’s Rachel Sennott. The ceremony itself will be hosted by Conan O’Brien.
Last year’s Oscars saw Oppenheimer win big, taking home seven of the 13 awards it was nominated for – including Best Picture, Best Director for Christopher Nolan and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy. Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things also did well, winning four awards including Best Actress for Emma Stone.
This year, the big films predicted to be prevalent among the nominees include original musical thriller Emilia Pérez, Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and Broadway adaptation Wicked. Other contenders could include architectural epic The Brutalist, papal drama Conclave, Sean Baker’s Anora and horror-comedy The Substance, most prominently Demi Moore for her lead performance.
One thing we do already know about this year’s ceremony is that it will not include performances from those in the Best Original Song category.
The full list of the 2025 nominees will be found below, updated as they’re announced from 1.30pm.
