In May last year came the news that three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver was joining “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie at Lucasfilm and Disney.
“The Mandalorian” series creator Jon Favreau is producing the film alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and CCO Dave Filoni with the project filming in California much of late last year, wrapping in December.
Specifics of her role have been under wraps but now The Hot Mic’s Jeff Sneider is claiming to know who she’ll play in the movie.
Weaver will reportedly have a fairly minor role as a New Republic Colonel named Bishop, a tip of the hat to Weaver’s “Aliens” role, with the character also rumored to be a villain in some way.
Sneider also says previous rumors that Favreau directed some of the action remotely for three weeks after contracting COVID last year are correct.
Pedro Pascal will return as Din Djarin but likely only in a voice capacity as he was filming Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” while the “Mandalorian” film was shooting.
Also set are Jeremy Allen White (“The Bear”) as Rotta the Hutt, while the bounty hunter Embo from “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” is rumored to be the primary villain of the film.
“The Mandalorian & Grogu” is set to hit theaters on May 22nd 2026.
