SSP debuts own-brand casual-dining concept Monty’s Diner at Liverpool John Lennon Airport
In addition to Monty’s Diner, SSP has invested heavily in its eight airport outlets. These include the Kissing Gate Pub and Kitchen, Starbucks, Upper Crust and Sable & Co Bar and Kitchen, among others.
UK. Leading travel food services group SSP has today (23 January) opened its first own-brand casual-dining concept, Monty’s Diner, at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The outlet represents a significant step in the evolution of SSP’s UK portfolio, offering travellers an American-style diner experience within the bustling airport.
Monty’s Diner brings to life a classic American menu designed to appeal to a wide range of tastes.
Menu options include classic cooked breakfasts, filled bagels and loaded waffles for early diners, while the all-day menu features signature smashed patty burgers, hotdogs, wings, thick shakes and indulgent desserts.
The venue’s 190-seat capacity enables it to cater to families and larger groups, providing a relaxed and welcoming space for passengers to dine before their flights.
Monty’s Diner marks a major step in the airport’s departure lounge redevelopment aimed at enhancing traveller amenities. It is part of the airport’s multi-million-pound enhancements, which include a premium lounge – double the size of the existing facility – set to open for the busy summer travel period this year.
Monty’s Diner joins SSP’s premium dining concept Sable & Co Bar and Kitchen, and the newly refurbished Upper Crust in a refreshed line-up of food & beverage offerings at the airport.
As reported, it is one of several recent updates by SSP at the airport. The company has also invested in extending and redesigning the Kissing Gate Pub and Kitchen, as well as upgrading the airside Starbucks unit.
“After extensive consumer research, we identified an opportunity for a casual all-day diner and from here the concept of Monty’s was born, complementing our diverse portfolio of airport bars and restaurants focused on meeting the needs of modern passengers,” said SSP UK & Ireland CEO Kari Daniels.
“We continue to look at ways to provide our passengers with a greater choice of high-quality places to eat and drink while they wait for their flight, which complements the faster, easier, friendlier service that we have become known for.
“With a high volume of leisure travellers, our partner Liverpool John Lennon Airport was the perfect location to launch Monty’s. We’re now exploring opportunities to open Monty’s at more UK travel hubs and look forward to seeing these come to life soon.”
Liverpool John Lennon Airport CEO John Irving commented: “We’re really excited to see the opening of the new Monty’s Diner, the latest in a series of food & beverage developments aimed at giving the growing numbers of passengers now choosing to fly from Liverpool the best possible experience before jetting off from here.
“We started these latest multi-million-pound improvements with our retail partner SSP last year with the opening of the Sable & Co Bar and Kitchen with its views across the airfield, which has since become one of our most popular Departure Lounge facilities.”
Irving added: “Monty’s will add to the retail offer bringing a new twist for passengers, with an American-inspired dining experience and their all-day signature menu serving up breakfast favourites in particular and which we expect to be a great family favourite for many years to come.”
