What's With All Those Weird Accessories, Timmy C?

As well known for Oscar-nominated performances as he is for his daring sense of style, Timothée Chalamet knows a thing or two about looking the part.

Never too shy to take a fashion risk, the 29-year old has set tabloids and fashion outlets alight with halter tops, harnesses, and scales-on-skinnies for years now – despite and because of which he's never missed a spot on best dressed lists. He's a true figure-head of a new generation of sartorially savvy men who embrace the medium without fearing for their perceived masculinity.

That said, on tour for press and red carpet events to promote his starring role in A Complete Unknown, the French-American actor has been toying with a number of, say, unorthodox adornments. And no, I don't mean the goatee.

Nominated for playing Bob Dylan in the aforementioned biopic, Timmy appeared at the most recent Golden Globe Awards in early January wearing what is an unruly ascot, a disheveled silk tie, or both. Though more confusing than the object itself, is perhaps the way it snakes around his upper body.

Either way, this cobalt blue neckpiece has nothing on the tiny, dangly pink pashmina, diamond necklace, distressed graffiti cap, and candy bracelet combo he sported to the Paris premiere of his movie a few days ago. It's giving... well, something. A lot of it.

Oddball shawls really are the flame to his moth. They're either kooky in their own right, like that mustard colored wrap that may or may not actually be a sweater awkwardly knotted to perch around his shoulders. Or they're just slightly out-of-place-feeling, like this large, fringed checker stole, alongside gloves, a beanie, and frosted tips.

While on the topic of – let's call them – unusual product cameos, the most headscratch-y of them might've been Tim pulling up to a London screening on a filthy Lime Bike, in full evening attire. By contrast, the sporty nighttime sunglasses don't actually read as that big a deal.

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy Timothée Chalamet's newly ornamental wardrobe. It hits especially hard, I find, when he garnishes the clothes with theme-befitting add-ons.

Like when topping off his chocolatey 70s corduroy suit with a cream handkerchief and tasteful tortoise shell specs. Delightful.

Or when he flies totally off the rails, and pairs an itsy bitsy denim Chanel with low slung jeans, a studded belt, and what's got to be a thrifted NFL puffer. Again, joyous.

But so, really now. What's the tea, Timmy C, on all those weird accessories?

Please don't say "the answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind".
