Zurich Airport commercial sales hit new high in 2024 but growth lags passenger traffic
Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF629.9 million (US$689 million) in 2024, a rise of +3.4% over last year, but behind the traffic growth figure of +8%.
SWITZERLAND. Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF629.9 million (US$689 million) in 2024, a rise of +3.4% compared to 2023. Airside sales climbed by +6% with landside (including The Circle complex) up by +0.1%.
The commercial growth figures lagged behind the traffic increase of +8%, with passenger volumes across the full year reaching 31.2 million.
Airside spend per departing passenger in the 12-month period slipped by -1.9% year-on-year to CHF23.20 (US$25.38).
In December, commercial turnover rose by +0.4% to CHF55.1 million (US$60.2 million) though spend dipped by -3.6% in the month to CHF25.10 (US$27.46).
The commercial numbers did not keep pace with passenger traffic growth of +8.1% in November, with volumes hitting 2.37 million.
