In a significant move to broaden its presence in the European travel market, German tour operator Dertour has acquired ID Riva Tours, a specialist in Croatian travel, renowned for its comprehensive offerings of holiday homes and unique travel experiences in Croatia. The acquisition, set to be finalized in the first quarter of 2025 pending regulatory approval, marks a strategic expansion for Dertour, enhancing its specialized travel segments.

ID Riva Tours, celebrated for its deep-rooted expertise in Croatian tourism since 1995, manages over 200 holiday homes and maintains partnerships with nearly 400 hotels and tourist resorts across Croatia. Annually, the company attracts 50,000 to 70,000 tourists to the region, offering more than 30 motor sailing boats and yachts.

Dr. Ingo Burmester, CEO of Dertour for Central Europe and a member of the Dertour Group’s executive board, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “With this step, we’re investing in Croatia as one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in Europe. This acquisition not only enhances our portfolio but also reinforces our commitment to providing authentic and exceptional travel experiences.”

Konstantin Gaitanides, Director of ID Riva Tours, also welcomed the acquisition, noting that joining forces with Dertour represents a logical step forward. “This partnership allows us to continue delivering authentic Croatian travel experiences while leveraging Dertour’s extensive reach and expertise,” said.

The established ID Riva Tours brand will continue to operate under the Dertour umbrella, with no anticipated changes for guests or partners. The company will maintain its operations in Poreč and Trogir, Croatia, and Grafelfing near Munich, Germany.

Dertour plans to expand further in Croatia in cooperation with its local agency, Destination Touristik Service, which has offices in Pula and Makarska. Future plans include opening new joint branches across Croatia to further enhance the travel experience for guests.

This acquisition aligns with Dertour’s strategy to grow its specialized travel offerings, following last year’s purchase of British luxury vacation home provider, Solmar Villas. Dertour Deutschland, part of the Dertour group and a member of the German REWE group, operates several travel brands offering modular, long-distance, and package trips to 179 countries worldwide.
