Peacock Cancels Wan-Produced “Teacup”

The James Wan-produced horror thriller series “Teacup” has been canceled at Peacock after a single season.

Based on Robert McCammon’s bestselling novel “Stinger,” the series followed a disparate group of people in rural Georgia must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.

Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, and Luciano Leroux star in the series while Ian McCulloch (“Yellowstone,” “Chicago Fire”) served as showrunner.

Premiering in October, the series scored softly positive reviews with criticisms mostly going towards the way it veers into sci-fi in its back half.

The show failed to make a dent on the Nielsen Top 10 streaming charts and Peacock does not typically release viewership information so it’s not clear what audience it scored. Wan is currently producing an untitled espionage series starring Simu Liu for the service.

The axing follows on from news earlier today that Disney+ has cancelled its UK series originals “Extraordinary” after two seasons and “Shardlake” after one.
