South Korean singer Chung Ha has announced the upcoming release of a new mini-album titled ‘Alivio’ next month.

On January 22, Chung Ha and More Vision dropped a video clip titled ‘mood sampler’ via her YouTube channel, announcing the forthcoming release of a new mini-album titled ‘Alivio’. The clip features Chung Ha sitting pensively on a pile of bricks covered with a tarp, as she speaks through a voiceover.

“We all learn from our past. We learned that sometimes we gotta break down to break through. Let things go to learn, step back a little to look forward. Face the most terrifying and traumatic memories to overcome new challenges,” she says. “This is me trying. This is me allowing myself to make mistakes. This is me opening up a new chapter to a whole new journey.”

‘Alivio’ is due out February 12 at 6pm KST. More details about Chung Ha’s new music are expected in the coming days.

‘Alivio’ will mark Chung Ha’s first body of work in nearly three years, with her last being July 2022’s ‘Bare & Rare’ studio album. That record was led by title track ‘Sparkling’ and featured a collaboration single with BIBI. ‘Bare & Rare’ was also her final release under longtime label MNH Entertainment, which she parted ways with in March 2023.

Several months later, Jay Park’s label More Vision announced the addition of Chung Ha to its roster of artists. In an interview shortly after, she shared previous considerations to leave the Korean music industry in order to study abroad in the time between leaving MNH Entertainment and signing with More Vision.

Chung Ha would go on to put out her first music under More Vision in March 2024, via single album ‘Eenie Meenie’, which included a title track featuring ATEEZ rapper Hongjoong and B-side ‘I’m Ready’. The latter song would go on to be named the 25th best K-pop song of 2024 by NME.

“This fiercely charismatic track was a welcome return for K-pop all-rounder Chung Ha, who’d taken a step away from the industry for the better part of two years,” NME’s Gladys Yeo wrote for NME. “Chung Ha imbues ‘I’m Ready’ with a menacing edge, one that signals she’s truly back to stay.”
