Air France – KLM is in the process of launching a new fare type called Basic, which many other European airlines already offer, that doesn’t include any luggage allowance beyond a personal item.
Flying Blue made a mistake last week when they published an XP chart, their version of Tier Points, too early. The chart showed that BASIC fares on domestic and short-haul flights don’t earn any XPs, but they quickly restored the old earnings chart.

Flying Blue’s Current XP Earning Chart:
Air France and KLM have often implemented products and concepts from Delta Air Lines, such as SkyPriority branding and Economy Comfort.
Delta removed all benefits from Basic Economy fares in December 2021 (read more here), such as mileage or Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQM) earnings.
Explore Delta Main Basic (Basic Economy) Benefits
Delta Main Basic (Basic Economy) is the Onboard Experience with limited flexibility and no mileage earn. This product provides value to solo travelers and light packers who don’t anticipate changes to their travel plans and don’t mind where they sit on board.

You will not be eligible for: priority boarding; access to the Delta Sky Club; mileage accrual or credit towards Medallion Status; paid or complimentary upgrades; paid or complimentary Preferred Seats; or Same-Day Confirmed or Same-Day Standby travel changes.
Conclusion
It is rather clear from the XP earning chart, now removed, and other information that Air France and KLM have temporarily displayed on their respective websites, as well as information released to the trade, that this Basic fare is on its way; however, the exact launch date remains unclear.
You can expect all the current lowest fares to be rebranded as “Basic”, and then you will essentially need to pay extra to receive the current level of components, such as elite qualifying miles earnings, and a cabin bag.
