Finnair has faced several strikes and work actions by its employee groups, and the airline was forced to cancel more than 100 flights yesterday (read more here). There are two additional strike dates scheduled for next week, on June 2 and 4, 2025. Additionally, there will be no catering on short-haul flights from June 2 to 5.

Short-haul flights, which can be up to 6 to 7 hours long, are not catered beyond water and cookies in economy. Coffee and tea are also available in business.

You can access Finnair here.

Business class passengers can contact Finnair’s customer service and seek compensation for the non-delivery of the onboard food and beverage experience.

Finnair’s Announcement:

Limited meal & beverage service onboard between 2 and 5 June 2025

Due to the situation, the in-flight sales is not available and catering will be limited on our domestic and European flights between 2 and 5 June 2025. We recommend bringing snacks for your flight. In Economy Class, we serve water and a complimentary cookie. In Business Class, you will also be offered coffee and tea in addition to water and the cookie. Unfortunately, Business Class meals and pre-ordered meals cannot be delivered. If you have already purchased a meal, you can apply for a refund. On our intercontinental flights, you can enjoy meals as part of our standard service, as usual.

Conclusion

Finnair will not automatically refund preordered meals that economy passengers have ordered and paid for; passengers must apply for refunds, which can take several months to process.

These strikes have significantly disrupted Finnair’s operations, and passengers should consider alternative airline options until the issues with various employee groups are resolved, if getting to their destination on time is of importance.
