Despite yet another eurovision song contest having been and gone, the UK still indulges in the european musical output as numerous international artists continue to spread the contest’s sentiment of unity. One such artist that has crossed over to England’s capital to share in his own brand of musical culture is Italian Rapper, Tedua.

Originating from Genova Italy, Tedua, real name Mario Molinari, has released three multi-time Platinum selling albums in Italy, as well as several mixtapes and collaborations with Italian rap collective Wild Bandana. The drill artist headlined Camden’s Dingwalls with no support, but he more than compensated with a hefty 26 song setlist.

Hundreds of Tedua’s countrymen and women turned up, or in some cases flew out, for him that night, as the crowd sang and rapped every word back at him, no matter the fact he performed in Italian. For these fans, the intimate setting of the Dingwalls must be a treat, as back home Tedua would largely perform in arenas across Italy.

His fans would be further treated to a sneak peak snippet of his next featured single with fellow Italian rapper Rkomi titled “vent’anni”. The song was released at midnight that same night.

Although lyrically Italian, Tedua’s music instrumentally shares many similarities with British and more internationally recognized rap genres, providing a sonically satisfying experience for those who may not speak Italian, such as myself.

As would later become known to me, Tedua acknowledged the non Italian speaking members of the crowd as being tag alongs, but gauging the crowd reaction throughout the night, Tedua certainly gained new international fans for the next time he crosses the continent.
