Garmin’s New Forerunner Watches Are Colorful and Feature-Rich
Garmin's latest running watches, the Forerunner 970 and Forerunner 570, add new features and some colorful design options.

Garmin has always been a leader in the world of fitness watches, and its latest models double down. The company has taken the wraps off of two new Forerunner watches called the Garmin Forerunner 970 and Garmin Forerunner 570, which not only improve on the technologies, but also offer a sleek and stylish design with a range of color options.
Here’s a look at the new models and what they have to offer.
Garmin Forerunner 970
At the top of the lineup is the new Garmin Forerunner 970, which has a titanium body that comes in gray, white/silver, and soft gold. Perhaps cooler than the colors of the main body, however, is the fact that the bands come in a sporty-looking white and yellow for the white model, and gray and indigo for the soft gold model. It’s a cool look, and helps give the watch a nice splash of color.
As you would expect, the Forerunner 970 has a range of premium features. That starts with the standard fitness tracking and metrics that are usually available on Garmin watches, as well as new features that are available on a few models. For example, there’s a new Garmin Triathlon Coach feature, which can be set up and customized in the Garmin app. There are also new customizable multi-sport workouts and a predictor for your projected race time. Both the new Garmin Forerunner 970 and 570 have a skin temperature sensor too.
Some other new features are exclusive to the higher-end Forerunner 970, though. These include the new running tolerance feature, running economy feature, and the new ECG app, which uses sensors in the watch to record and detect atrial fibrillation.
The Garmin Forerunner 970 has a battery life of 15 days in smartwatch mode, which is pretty impressive, especially given the fact that many smartwatches have a battery life of only one or two days.
Garmin Forerunner 570
The Garmin Forerunner 570 isn’t quite as high tech as the Forerunner 970, but it still offers some helpful features. And its design is even more fun, though the color options depend on the size you get. The Forerunner 570 is available in 42mm and 47mm sizes. If you get the 42mm option, you can choose between slate gray aluminum, cloud blue aluminum, or raspberry aluminum, which, as the name suggests, has a cool pink and yellow color scheme. The 47mm model comes in slate gray aluminum, amp yellow aluminum, and indigo aluminum.
The Forerunner 570 has a number of helpful fitness tracking features, and while it doesn’t have quite as many as the Forerunner 970, most users will find it to be more than enough. It still has the ability to track sleep, energy, stress, and heart rate variability. It also has a blood oxygen sensor.
The Garmin Forerunner 970 comes in at $749.99, while the Forerunner 570 is priced at $549.99.
