The XPeng P7 Is a Premium EV That Costs Less Than a Model 3
The XPeng P7 is a new sports EV sedan that looks like it should cost as much as a Tesla Model S, but it comes in closer to the price of a Model 3.

For a while, simply being an electric vehicle was enough to generate sales. But as the EV market matures and becomes increasingly crowded, manufacturers are now forced to differentiate their offerings with design, performance, and value. Enter the XPeng P7 – a stylish electric sedan from Chinese automaker XPeng that combines premium aesthetics with a surprisingly affordable price tag.
Unveiled as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3, the XPeng P7 stands out with its bold design language and upscale detailing. Designed by Rafik Ferrag, a former BMW designer who joined XPeng in 2018, the P7 offers an elegant silhouette that evokes the smooth curves of European luxury sedans. Its low, sloping roofline and sculpted hood give it a sporty, coupe-like profile reminiscent of a Jaguar XE or Audi A5 Sportback.
Up front, the P7 makes an immediate impression with a full-width LED light bar that gracefully sweeps across the front fascia, adding a futuristic touch. The minimalist aesthetic continues along the sides with flush door handles that enhance both aerodynamics and visual appeal. At the rear, a sharply tapered tail and another full-width light bar echo the front’s design, creating a cohesive and modern appearance from every angle.
The attention to detail in the design isn’t just skin deep. Inside, the P7 promises a refined and high-tech cabin, though full interior specs have yet to be widely detailed. Based on XPeng’s other models, drivers can expect a digital dashboard, voice assistant integration, and a focus on comfort and connectivity.
Performance-wise, the P7 is expected to deliver competitive range and acceleration, though exact specs may vary by trim. What’s truly compelling, however, is the price. Starting at just around $42,000 in China, the P7 comes in under the cost of the Tesla Model 3 while offering a more premium visual and physical presence. That makes it one of the most competitively priced luxury EVs in its class.
For now, the XPeng P7 will be available exclusively in China, with sales beginning in August. XPeng has not yet confirmed if or when the P7 will be available in North America or Europe, but as global demand for stylish and affordable EVs grows, the P7 could become a serious contender in international markets.
