“Fallout” and “The White Lotus” star Walton Goggins is in talks to play the role of lead villain M. Bison in the upcoming new film adaptation of the “Street Fighter” game franchise.
The Insneider broke the news and revealed two other eclectic names in contention for roles – country musician Orville Peck to portray masked fighter Vega, and comedian Eric Andre.
Andre’s inclusion isn’t a huge surprise as Kitao Sakurai, who directed multiple episodes of “The Eric Andre Show,” is directing the film after “Talk to Me” and “Bring Her Back” helmers Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou exited the project.
No actors are officially announced as yet, this report joining other rumors in recent times, including Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and Roman Reigns as Akuma.
Capcom is reportedly heavily involved in the new take on a franchise which began life as a 1987 arcade game but took off in 1991 with the release of “Street Fighter II” becoming a pop culture event.
Multiple sequels followed, and the infamous film adaptation in 1994 with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Kylie Minogue and Ming-Na Wen. A second and lower-budgeted film adaptation in 2009 followed. Julia played Bison in the 1994 film.
No word on the story for the new incarnation or potential production dates.
