Last year, Lufthansa announced that it had decided to change its Miles&More credit card issuing partner in Germany from DKB to Deutsche Bank, and the switch was advertised initially for summer (June) of 2025.
Well, June is now here, and we haven’t heard crickets from either Lufthansa or Deutsche Bank all year, so it’s safe to say that nothing will happen anytime soon and that any new card products won’t come before 2026.
This partnership between Lufthansa and Deutsche Bank is particularly puzzling, given that we’re talking about two giants of German industry, yet they can’t even manage to roll out a product that has been in development for over a year.
It was originally said that DKB would continue to issue cards until mid-2025 when the Deutsche Bank switchover would occur. However, as of now, DKB continues to accept applications, and no definitive cutoff information has been made public.

It’s pretty clear that this is no longer realistic and there has been a very suspicious silence from both partners as to the status of the partnership. My DB banker working at a branch also hasn’t heard anything about the new products.
A slight hint, however, came a few weeks ago when DKB announced the complete exit from the co-branded credit card market.
In late April, there was an article in Finanz Szene where DKB said that the contract with Lufthansa will expire in 2026. It was originally supposed to expire this month. At the same time, DKB also said they would stop issuing the Porsche Card, and as I previously reported, the DKB Hilton was already moved to the Advanzia Hilton.
A German YouTuber (Marco) made a video about this and he was also quite confused about the lack of communication by Lufthansa/Deutsche Bank:
I can only concur here. It’s strange that neither company has come out and published an official timeline of the reasons why this product change isn’t proceeding as planned.
Once DB has these cards in the portfolio, it’s almost certain that everyone has to start a completely new application process with the bank. It’s not like they will simply roll over accounts to a new bank, as we sometimes see it in the U.S. when a product is shifted.
Conclusion
The German Lufthansa Miles&More credit card was supposed to be issued by Deutsche Bank effective June 2025, but since there are no updates, it’s pretty safe to assume that this isn’t happening.
Even though neither partner has published any update or timeline, DKB went public in a magazine, alluding to an extension of their contract with Lufthansa until 2026.
That would mean that we probably won’t see any product switch within the next 9-12 months. Hopefully, Lufthansa will eventually get its act together and provide a proper update for customers and current credit card holders.
