The Institute
MGM+ has announced a July 13th premiere date for its TV series adaptation of Stephen King‘s 2019 sci-fi horror novel “The Institute”. The story deals with children who have telepathic abilities and are abducted and taken to a secret facility that aims to perform experiments on them.
We follow teen genius Luke Ellis (Joe Freeman) who awakens there one day, along with haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson (Ben Barnes) whose story will collide with Luke. Mary-Louise Parker, Simone Miller, Fionn Laird, Hannah Galway, Julian Richings, Robert Joy and Martin Roach co-star. Jack Bender (“Mr. Mercedes”) executive produces. [Source: MGM]
Butterfly
Amazon MGM Studios has announced an August 13th premiere date for the new character-driven spy thriller series “Butterfly” led by former “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-O” star Daniel Dae Kim. The showis based on Arash Amel’s 2015 graphic novel of the same name.
Kim plays David Jung, an enigmatic former US intelligence operative living in South Korea whose life implodes when an impossible decision from his past comes back to haunt him. He’s pursued by Rebecca, a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill him by sinister agency Caddis. [Source: Amazon MGM Studios]
Unabom
Jacob Tremblay (“Room,” “Wonder”) will take the lead role of Ted Kaczynski, more famously known as the Unabomber, in the prestige true-crime drama series “UNABOM” at Netflix. The Janus Metz-directed film will follow his early life and unraveling from a Harvard prodigy to domestic terrorist.
Russell Crowe will portray Professor Henry Murray, a psychologist who conducted controversial experiments on Kaczynski. Shailene Woodley plays FBI agent Joanne Miller, who leads the high-stakes manhunt years later. Annabelle Wallis co-stars and production kicks off soon. [Source: What’s On Netflix]
One Piece
Ahead of next year’s release of the second season of Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” series, LEGO has announced a number of sets to commemorate the show’s debut season.
The elaborate sets incude the Going Merry Ship, Arlong Park, Buggy the Clown’s Circus Tent, the Windmill Village Hut, and the massive Baratie Floating Restaurant set which clocks in at 3,402 pieces. There’s also BrickHeadz Monkey D. Luffy and BrickHeadz Buggy the Clown figure sets.
