DC Studios chief and filmmaker James Gunn has confirmed that his “Superman” film is finished.
Posting on Threads, he says the film’s last visual effect shot has been completely and dropped into the movie and “we are now 100% done.”
He included a photo of himself alongside the cast members playing characters who work at The Daily Planet in the film, while Warner Bros. Pictures also release new character posters for the film which shows off members of the Daily Planet staff.
The wrap comes as more talk about the film’s budget has emerged via a feature piece in THR going into the cost of Summer blockbusters this year.
The trade indicates that DC has stated that the film’s net budget is $225 million after incentives and tax breaks, but one longtime financier says it’s higher and several sources say the marketing budget could be “as much as $200 million,” but either way the combined production/marketing total spend on the film is “certain to land in the $400 million club”.
As the article points out, that’s not that unusual for other blockbusters this Summer with “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” “F1,” and “Jurassic World: Rebirth” all costing comparable amounts.
“Superman” opens in cinemas on July 11th.
