Southwest sale: Save up to 50% with promo code WOWZERS (Book by 6/5)

Southwest is out with another sale, this time offering up to 50% off when using promo code WOWZERS to make reservations by Thursday June 5 for flights from mid-August through mid-December.

Quick Thoughts

Southwest has frequently run sales in the past but I’ve never tracked their cadence, so it’s hard to know if there’s been an uptick of them in recent weeks/months due to fewer people booking with them as a result of recent negative changes.

The WOWZERS promo code can offer some substantial nonetheless, so it’s worth checking if you need to book any flights for travel from mid-August through mid-December. The up-to 50% discount is taken off the base fare rather than the full price which includes taxes and fees, so the largest discount you see won’t amount to half its original price. For example, here’s New York LaGuardia to Norfolk, VA in October; the normal base fare was ~$180, so the discounted price drops ~$90 from $206 to $116 on eligible flights.
