King Princess announces new LP & tour, shares “RIP KP”
Ahead of the tour (with SASAMI and spill tab), she plays a sold out Market Hotel show tonight.

King Princess, aka Brooklyn-based artist Mikaela Strauss, has announced her third album, Girl Violence, due out on September 12 via section1. It’s the follow-up to 2022’s Hold On Baby and she made it in collaboration with Jake Portrait (Unknown Mortal Orchestra) and Aire Atlantica. “Girl violence is very sneaky,” she says. “It’s not physical, it’s deeply emotional, spiritual, and spooky. Women are both amazing and sinister—including myself—and it’s my curiosity to understand all the love, loss, and changes that come out of my love for women. Why are we so inclined to cause and receive chaos? If you’ve experienced even an iota of it, then you’ll have a story to tell. And these are mine.”
The first single is “RIP KP,” which Strauss says is “about the sexy side of girl violence – when love takes over your brain like a cordyceps and suddenly you’re getting fucked all over your house, acting a fool. It’s the perfect way to open the record: dramatic, unhinged, and a little tongue-in-cheek. I wrote it during a full ego death – leaving LA, my label, my old life – and somehow landed back in NYC making the music I would’ve obsessed over at 15. It’s a slutty anthem for the lesbians. We need debauchery this summer.”
King Princess also announced a fall tour, beginning with both weekends of ACL Fest. North American shows are with SASAMI on the first leg, and spill tab on the second, and run through November, plus Europe and the UK to follow in December. See all dates below.
The NYC show is at Brooklyn Paramount on October 29 with SASAMI, and tickets go on sale Friday, June 13 at 10 AM local, with various presales starting Friday, June 6 at 10 AM local.
Ahead of the tour, King Princess plays a sold out show tonight (6/4) at Market Hotel.
