2026 World Cup Guide: Seattle
Seattle is the only city in the Pacific Northwest chosen to host 2026 FIFA World Cup matches — and it’s not surprising. The city’s soccer roots run deep, from the long history of the Sounders to a vibrant community culture that regularly fills the stadium with some of the most energetic fans in North America. Seattle has one of the highest rates of soccer participation in the country, and its fan culture — marked by colorful marches, long green scarves, coordinated chants, and a welcoming spirit for anyone rooting for the hometown heroes — has become legendary among visiting teams and supporters alike.

How to get to Lumen Field from Downtown Seattle
Lumen Field is located just south of downtown Seattle and is easily accessible by public transportation, car, or on foot, in most cases. If you’re staying downtown, the stadium is a 15–20 minute walk from most central hotels.
Public transit is also easy. King County Metro buses run between downtown and the stadium, and routes 21, 101, 150, or 550 will drop you within a short walk of Lumen Field. Alternatively, you can take the Sound Transit Link Light Rail to the International District/Chinatown or Stadium stations, both about a 10-minute walk from the entrance. On the train, the King Street Station (Amtrak and Sounder commuter rail) is only a five-minute walk from the stadium. The easiest way to pay for public transportation is to download the Transit GO Ticket app in advance and buy a digital pass, though you can also buy tickets from machines at every station.
If you’re considering driving, parking is available at several lots around the stadium, but it fills up quickly on match days. You’ll probably want to reserve a spot in advance online or, better yet, use public transit.
