One of the Best PS5 RPGs Getting Big Final Update for Free

One of the best RPG titles of all time is getting a final free update on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC later this year. CD Projekt RED has announced that it’s bringing cross-platform mod support to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary.

Unfortunately, last-gen platforms including the PS4 will be excluded from the update, but that makes sense given performance issues on dated hardware. CD Projekt RED didn’t say when we can expect the patch, but did say it’ll be later in 2025.

“Creating, sharing, and enjoying mods will be easier and more accessible, as players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will be able to share a modding ecosystem,” the studio wrote, adding that the update will be free of cost for everyone.

CD Projekt RED will be using the mod.io platform to support the highly-requested feature, but did warn that availability of certain mods may vary by platform.

“Due to specific content guidelines and selection criteria for each platform, it may not be possible to bring every mod uploaded on PC to console,” the developer explained. “Mods available on mod.io must also adhere to our Fan Content Guidelines and CD Projekt RED User Agreement.”
