In line with its strategy for 2024-2028 and responding to clear market and passenger demand, LOT Polish Airlines is expanding its scheduled network with another attractive destination. This latest addition invites travellers aboard LOT’s comfortable aircraft to Malaga, with the inaugural flight set for 15 January 2026.
During the winter months, flights between Warsaw and Malaga will depart on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at 10:20, with return flights leaving Malaga on the same days at 15:35. From 24 February, frequency will rise to six weekly flights. Flight duration is around four hours.
“The launch of our new Malaga route directly reflects genuine market demand and marks a significant step forward in improving connections between Poland and Andalusia. Costa del Sol has been increasingly popular among Polish travellers in recent years, chosen by over 100 thousand Poles as their holiday destination last year alone. With its Mediterranean sunshine, exceptional culture, and vibrant Andalusian charm, Malaga continues to attract growing numbers of visitors seeking warm weather, local tastes, and authentic experiences. I am confident that our passengers will love this newest addition to our Spanish route network.” says Robert Ludera, Commercial Proxy and Director of Network Planning at LOT Polish Airlines.
Malaga’s charm lies not just in its inviting Spanish warmth and flair, but also in its outstanding climate. With over 300 sunny days per year and average temperatures around 23°C, summer lasts distinctly longer here than in much of Europe.
Malaga is a city brimming with history that is visible at every turn. Wherever you look, echoes of the past transport you back through the centuries. The Roman legacy is perfectly captured by the Teatro Romano, dating back to the 1st century, while the Alcazaba Fortress, Malaga’s most significant Moorish landmark, offers beautifully preserved ruins and breathtaking views across the city.
Birthplace of Picasso’s genius
Pablo Picasso, Malaga’s most celebrated native, remains a globally influential artist famed as the creator of Cubism. Naturally, the city celebrates his legacy with Museo Picasso Málaga, housing more than 200 of his distinctive paintings, sculptures and ceramics. This exceptional collection owes its existence largely to the generosity of Picasso’s family, who donated or loaned many of the museum’s fascinating works. Whether you’re captivated by Picasso’s legacy or simply appreciate daring colours and unusual shapes, the museum is sure to impress.
A culinary paradise
Malaga’s cuisine epitomises southern Spain at its best – fresh, simple and full of flavour. From varied tapas and cool soups like ajoblanco, to deliciously sweet Moscatel wines, the area is perfect for gourmets keen to explore with all their senses. Seafood defines the flavours of Andalusia, so delicious dishes like gambas al pil pil – succulent prawns cooked in a spicy garlic sauce – or espetos de sardinas – grilled sardines on skewers – are served practically everywhere. While strolling along Malaga’s scenic Mediterranean coast, be sure to stop by one of the popular chiringuitos – traditional beachside bars and restaurants scattered along the Costa del Sol.
It’s all about the sea
Malaga lies at the heart of the Costa del Sol coastline, known for its 16 diverse beaches that appeal to beach lovers and swimmers alike. Most Malaga beaches have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, complying with rigorous European rules on water quality, safety standards and beach facilities. You’ll find lush exotic greenery and shaded palms across most beaches, providing welcome relief from the midday heat. The most iconic and popular beach is La Malagueta, a central city beach located next to the Muelle Uno harbour area. Visitors looking for an ideal getaway should also consider the sunny shores of La Caleta or the charming, historic beach at Baños del Carmen.
Tickets for the new direct flights from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Malaga are now available across all LOT sales channels, including lot.com, LOT Contact Centre and at LOT Travel offices.
