Following the home run of his work as showrunner on the third season of “Star Trek: Picard,” Terry Matalas quickly got snapped up by Marvel Studios to take on the same role for the Disney+ series “Vision Quest,” a follow-up to 2021’s “WandaVision”.
That series saw the birth of a new Vision, White Vision, a synthesized being who is new to the world and learning his place in it. Appearing on The Sackhoff Show podcast, Matalas says the series is very much the next step for the character and confirms it follows directly on from events in that series:
“At the end of WandaVision, the original Vision was rebuilt and weaponized, and then had a moment of discovery and acceptance of who he was. Then [he] flew off. [Vision Quest] is following that character, and that character’s journey.
It became this very collaborative experience that’s just been really wonderful. And it doesn’t have to be with the biggest, most successful studios of all time. It’s been a really wonderful creative experience, and I think we are making something really special.”
Marvel previously confirmed that James Spader reprises his Ultron role while Faran Tahir appears as Raza, the former apparent leader of the Ten Rings in 2008’s “Iron Man”.
Speaking of Marvel series, former “Moon Knight” showrunner Jeremy Slater finally offered an update on if a second season is coming. The answer? It’s not up to him. Speaking with ComicBook.com at the opening of the Epic Universe park, he says the decision lies in the hands of Marvel’s Kevin Feige and the show’s star Oscar Isaac:
“Talk to Kevin Feige. Talk to Oscar Isaac. I think the ball’s really in their court. It’s as much or as little Moon Knight as Oscar wants to do. Kevin’s the guy with the master plan, and I think when he comes up with a way to really incorporate Moon Knight into there . . . It’s my hope that we’re gonna see him again, but I’m as curious as the rest of you guys.”
“Moon Knight” was well-received by critics and was the tenth most-streamed series on Disney+ in 2022, but the Mouse House has been in no rush to renew it.
