Looks Like a BioShock Related Announcement Is Coming Soon

It has been years since 2K confirmed a new BioShock game was in the works, but it seems the gaming company may finally be ready to show off the next iteration of the lauded shooter series.

When will 2K make its BioShock related announcement?

According to MP1st’s sources, 2K is readying itself to announce something related to the BioShock franchise. They do clarify that they are unsure when this reveal will take place, but they speculate it will happen before summer ends.

The outlet also says it does not know what BioShock project this is regarding. The franchise has seen announcements for a brand new video game entry in the series, as well as an upcoming Netflix movie. They also speculate that it could potentially be a remake or “proper” remaster of the original BioShock game, which was originally released on Xbox 360 and PC in 2007.

Specifically, their source suggests that the city of Rapture, the setting of the first game, plays a “significant role” in this upcoming project. The information makes references to the original game.

Again, this is all speculation, but the outlet suggests several scenarios. The first is that this announcement will be for a remaster or remake of the 2007 original. The second is the previously announced film is set in Rapture or is potentially tied to the first game in some way. A third possibility is the next entry in the BioShock series features Rapture in some shape or form. This could range from a small reference to the game actually being set there.

In terms of narrowing down a date for an announcement, Summer Game Fest seems to be the most likely candidate, especially if the announcement is bound to be revealed before summer ends. Of course, the series has a history with Xbox, and could show up at its showcase the same week. Additionally, PlayStation is rumored to have an event sometime in June, so it could show up there as well. Once again, this is speculation on our part, but this BioShock announcement may happen as early as next month.
