When Doom: The Dark Ages launched last week, it was confirmed that a trophy was bugged, effectively breaking the game’s coveted Platinum trophy. Bethesda and id Software deployed a hotfix recently, however, trophy hunters will have to wait longer for a fix for the broken trophy.

What does the new Doom: The Dark Ages update fix?

In an announcement made by the official Bethesda Support X (formerly Twitter) account, Doom: The Dark Ages recently received a new hotfix on all platforms, which includes PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Specifically, this patch addresses crash issues around map start, loading late campaign saves, and some that occurred when charging or throwing the Shield Saw.

A player did reply in that thread, asking when the trophy bug was getting fixed. Bethesda support did reply, simply stating, “We do not have any other confirmed updates at this time.” Of course, some players voiced their displeasure with the developer in the reply section, some of which go too far.

The bugged Doom: The Dark Ages trophy in question is called Berserker. This requires players to acquire all Shield Base, Shield Rune, and Melee Weapon upgrades. Unfortunately, this bug is pretty hard to avoid. The only way to get the trophy to pop is to wait until all upgrades can be purchased, and then buy them all at the same time.

Bugged trophies aside, Doom: The Dark Ages is a solid entry in the long-running first-person shooter franchise. In our review, we gave the game a 9 out of 10.

“Doom: The Dark Ages shows that the team at id Software refuses to rest on its laurels and is always looking to iterate upon Doom’s fantastic base,” we said in our review. “The addition of the shield helps the gameplay feel entirely fresh, with the parry system and melee combat helping it differentiate itself from Doom Eternal, which perfected the push-forward combat.”
