“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson is attached to play the lead in the action-adventure feature “Fortune” which Skydance Media (“Mission: Impossible,” “Star Trek,” “Top Gun: Maverick”) is in negotiations to pick up.
Skydance reportedly has come out on top of a competitive situation for the film package and should the deals get signed, they will team with “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “National Treasure” producer Jerry Bruckheimer on the project.
Neil Widener and Gavin James, who worked on the script for “A Minecraft Movie,” will write this film’s script based on their own short story. The pair are also currently working on the scripts for “San Andreas 2” and “Hot Wheels”.
Ritchson, who worked with Bruckheimer on Guy Ritchie’s “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” will also produce.
Plot details are under wraps, but the project has been described as “Memento meets Raiders of the Lost Ark” and it’s a star vehicle for Ritchson as opposed to the more ensemble nature of ‘Ministry’.
Ritchson currently stars in “Reacher” which had a third season that was the most streamed original show of the year for the company and the show is in the top three of all time for Prime.
Ritchson was spotted several days ago reprising his role for scenes opposite Maria Sten in the upcoming spinoff series “Neagley” due out next year. Once that spin-off has wrapped production, which isn’t far off, filming on the fourth season of “Reacher” begins with much of the same crew.
Ritchson teased this week on Instagram that fourth season will be the most “intensely physical season yet”.
