12 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

PULP – “GOT TO HAVE LOVE”

Pulp’s first album in 24 years is out in just two weeks and they’ve now shared a second single from it. Fans of the band’s disco side, and Jarvis Cocker’s fondness for spelling, will dig this one. Jarvis also directed the video which makes great use of footage from legendary ’70s Northern Soul club the Wigan Casino. “Wouldn’t you like to be able to dance like this,” Jarvis asks via the video’s titles. “Guess what? You can.”

BLACKBRAID – “WARDRUMS AT DAWN ON THE DAY OF MY DEATH”

The first taste of Blackbraid III is here, and it finds the indigenous black metal act sounding as ferocious as ever.

ISABELLA LOVESTORY – “GORGEOUS”

Reggaeton/neoperreo trailblazer Isabella Lovestory has announced her sophomore album, Vanity, due June 27. New single “Gorgeous” balances out its Spanish-language verses with an English-language hook that embraces aughts-era US pop.

JOEY PURP & THELONIUS MARTIN – “MAKE THE LAKERS”

Chicago rapper Joey Purp and frequent producer Thelonius martin have announced a collaborative project, Champagne Seats, due out June 6. Here’s the throwback chipmunk soul of lead single “Make The Lakers.”

EMPRESS OF – “LITTLE SECRET”

Empress Of’s new single is from the soundtrack of AppleTV+ series The Buccaneers, an adaptation of Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel, which was published after her death in 1938.

MYTHOLOGEN FT THE RADIO DEPT & JENS LEKMAN – “RADICALIZE”

Swedish producer Mythologen teams with countrymen The Radio Dept and Jens Lekman for this new single from his upcoming album Eurovision. The Radio Dept’s Johan Duncanson sings lead and it’s very much in his band’s style, from the melody to the highly politicized lyrics. Jens is on piano.

DEARY – “I STILL THINK ABOUT YOU”

Rising UK shoegazers deary are back with a new 7″ single on June 27 featuring this new original and a cover of Sade’s “No Ordinary Love” on the flipside. “We wanted to capture the purity of wanting to see someone again, hoping they appear around the corner, or in your local park or pub, without any form of doubt that creeps into one’s mind as we grow older,” says singer Dottie. “We enjoyed exploring and challenging ourselves to achieve a softer and uplifting narrative – it’s possibly the most joyful thing we’ve ever written.”

CRYPTODIRA – “THE SAME RIVER TWICE”

Progressive metalcore maniacs Cryptodira have announced a new EP, Genesis Of Error, due July 25 via Silent Pendulum. With lead single “The Same River Twice,” they dish out a rager that sounds like Converge meets early BTBAM.

JANE REMOVER – “SUPERNOVA” FT. FUNERAL

“Supernova” was previously only available on CD editions of Revengeseekerz sold on Jane Remover’s tour. As their tour wraps up, they’ve shared it on streaming services too.

IRON MIND – “HOW YOU GET DOWN”

Australian metallic hardcore band Iron Mind unleash another ass-kicking taste of Test Of The Iron Mind, due 6/13 via Flatspot/Last Ride.

FORTH WANDERERS – “7 MONTHS”
