Music agent Dave Shapiro, ex-Devil Wears Prada drummer Daniel Williams & others killed in plane crash

Music agent and co-owner of Sound Talent Group Dave Shapiro and former Devil Wears Prada drummer Daniel Williams were among those killed in a plane crash in San Diego on Thursday (5/22). The National Transportation Safety Board said the plane could’ve held up to 10 people, but the number who passed away is currently unknown, Associated Press reports. At least 100 people were evacuated from the crash site and surrounding area in the US-Navy owned Murphy Canyon, and San Diego police officer Anthony Carrasco said five people were taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation, while two others were treated on site for minor injuries. At least one house was destroyed, and around ten others were damaged.

Shapiro, who was also a pilot, booked Pierce the Veil, Streetlight Manifesto, The Acacia Strain, Armor for Sleep, Hair the Sun, Between the Buried and Me, Sleeping with Sirens, Circa Survive, Anthony Green, The Sound of Animals Fighting, Spanish Love Songs, One King Down, Drug Church, Self Defense Family, August Burns Red, Stick To Your Guns, Story of the Year, Parkway Drive, Sum 41, Set it Off, Crown the Empire, Beartooth, RX Bandits, Animals as Leaders, Silverstein, Eve 6, and more bands. He, Tim Borror and Matt Anderson started STG in 2018.

STG said that two more of its employees, other than Shapiro, had died in the crash, but didn’t provide names. In a statement to Billboard, they said, “we are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy. Thank you so much for respecting their privacy at this time.”

The plane originated from a small airport in NJ. Pierce the Veil headlined Madison Square Garden in NYC Tuesday night.

Williams had shared photos from aboard the plane to his Instagram story. Devil Wears Prada posted a tribute to their Instagram with pictures of him and Dave, writing, “♥ no words. We owe you everything. Love you forever.”

Drug Church cancelled the remainder of their tour with Liquid Mike after the news surfaced. Touché Amoré Jeremy Bolm will join them on vocals for their Baltimore show on Monday.

Our condolences and thoughts to all friends & family of Dave and Daniel and all those on board.
