More and more signs indicate the upcoming second season of Marvel’s “Daredevil: Born Again” is set to serve as a reunion of “The Defenders”.
The other week came the news that Krysten Ritter is confirmed to be returning as Jessica Jones in the currently filming second season, rejoining her old screen partner Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil.
But what about Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Danny Rand/Iron Fist? Well hints of them being involved began to pop up this week.
Both actors have confirmed via postings on their social media channels that they are currently in New York with Colter commenting on Jones’ post.
None of the posts make any mention of “Daredevil” though. Further to this, fans indicate on X that Colter posted a photo showing that he has trimmed his bushy beard.
Of course both are busy professionals who could be in New York for other reasons, but several scoopers have indicated they expect the four Defenders to pop up – even if it’s only cameos.
Meanwhile Cox has participated in a new interview with SAG-AFTRA and was asked about the potential of a big screen “Daredevil” film. He says:
“I’m the worst person to ask. I have no idea. I don’t know, you have to ask the grown-ups… I don’t know anything, and I like not knowing anything. Because I’m part of the show… every season we get to see the first two episodes on the big screen. So I get that experience. And it is a shame because, particularly with that pilot, it is such a cinematic episode. It feels like it deserves to be seen on the big screen. But I don’t know, just write letters. Everyone just write letters.”
A bigger question right now is whether the series will be renewed. Despite high levels of promotion, all nine episodes of the series failed to chart on Nielsen’s streaming ratings with the first two episodes coming in somewhere under 465 million minutes watched.
Disney itself said the series launched with 7.5 million views in its first five days of availability on the Disney+ service but haven’t offered any further numbers since
