In a recent DC showcase interview, co-boss of DC Studios James Gunn teases some details from Supergirl, no longer called Woman of Tomorrow. That’s right, like Superman before her, Supergirl has dropped the subtitle and will just be known as Supergirl. However, the plot, as we know is heavily influenced by the Woman of Tomorrow comic book.

On director of Supergirl, Craig Gillespie.
“Craig is such a joy to work with. I was really excited to get to work with him, and he’s been just a dream in terms of collaborating, fighting for his ground. When you have an idea that you believe, you really fight for it.”
Gunn also commented on casting Milly Alcock before hiring Gillespie,
“I wanted her to be this little pixie-ish, but very attitudinal character. Milly was the first person I brought up.”
Rumor is she cameos in Superman, hence the need to cast her before Gillespie.

Gunn also talked about the villain of Supergirl, Krem of the Yellow Hills, the same villain from the comic book.
“Dude, wait till you see how scary he is in the movie,” he teased, and says actor Matthias Schoenaerts is “scary, creepy and cool” crediting Gillespie with taking Krem to the next level.
Gunn also explained how Lobo as a character (Jason Momoa) helps turn the comic books series into a cohesive film.
“The comic is very much a bunch of little stories. We needed to create one throughline, one three-act story, so Lobo helps us to do that.”
Gunn also talked about some characters he’s a fan of from the DC Universe that are not yet part of the DCU. Check out the video for all that above.
