Michael Bay Denies “Skibidi Toilet” Movie?

In a new posting on Instagram, filmmaker Michael Bay has seemingly denied reports from earlier this week that production has begun on a “Skibidi Toilet” which he’s directing.

In the video, a very relaxed-looking Bay is by himself around a large glass-ceiling room and says: “I went on the internet last night and it says stuff about me directing something, I know what I’m directing, but it’s not the thing they keep talking about.”

The camera then pans to a table with a bunch of scripts on it as Bay continues: “That’s a movie. These are a whole bunch of movies right now, one is in serious prep, one is in soft prep, one I’m writing, one getting ready to produce or two to produce, but there’s not one in that little pile that says ‘Skibidi,’ so let’s just stop the lore right now. OK. You heard it from me.”

News broke in July last year when filmmaker Michael Bay and former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman were reportedly developing the project through the Goodman-owned company Invisible Narratives.

Goodman confirming at the time on a podcast: “We are absolutely in talks right now, both on the television side and the earliest conversations right now on the film side. But it’s not a be-all, end-all for us”. He added that it was “something that could be the next ‘Transformers’ or could be a Marvel universe”.

There had been no update since then until this past week when a press release from Invisible Narratives reported that Oscar-nominated production designer Jeffrey Beecroft and Oscar-winning vfx supervisor Rob Legato had joined the project which Bay had “been working on Skibidi since it was first publicly announced last summer”.

Shortly after came apparent teaser art through Bay’s own Instagram reels just four days ago, followed by reports that production on the film had begun. For now, it’s not clear what is going on.
