Though HBO has yet to announce the child leads of its “Harry Potter” TV series, sets for the high-profile show are already under construction in the UK with photos going online this weekend of Harry’s home – 4 Privet Drive.
Photos have been snapped a makeshift neighbourhood street being built which includes several similar looking Tudor-style houses that are quite different from the more conventional two-storey brick house of the films – an actual house in Berkshire used for filming exterior shots.
The Sun reports that Warner Bros. is spending as much as over $1 billion on expanding its Leavesden studio facility for the series including a real school for its young actors, new roads, car parks, and storage hangars.
Their source says the studio is “looking at making multiple, lengthy series over the next decade” there and so this massive infrastructure cost aims to provide all the facilities the huge cast and crew need.
Confirmed cast currently includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore; Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall; Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape; Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid; Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell; and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner while Mark Mylod will executive produce and direct multiple episodes.
