Josh O’Connor Leads Joel Coen’s “Spades”

British man-of-the-moment Josh O’Connor (“Challengers,” “The Crown,” “Lee”) is set to star in filmmaker Joel Coen’s new feature “Jack of Spades”.

Filming on the project will take place this Summer on location in Scotland. Plot specifics of the new film are under wraps.

Recently Ethan Coen, Joel’s brother, confirmed to THR that he and Joel about a year ago had written a new “something to do together” as the Coen Brothers again.

However, they can’t progress with it as “Joel is about to start something, so we kind of got out of sync.” Seems like this is the something about to start. Ethan Coen meanwhile has the film “Honey, Don’t!” opening in August.

O’Connor is currently visiting Cannes briefly where he’s expected to attend a screening of Kelly Reichardt’s art heist movie “The Mastermind” tonight. He also appears in Oliver Hermanus’ “The History of Sound” which screened earlier this week.

After tonight’s brief visit, he gets right back to work filming Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi blockbuster film opening next Summer. This Fall he’ll be out promoting his role in Rian Johnson’s “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” and recently appeared in Sundance premiere film “Rebuilding”.
