There has been uncertainty about Hilton’s late check-out benefit for Honors and elite members, as the company attempts to standardize and launch this as a paid option next year (read more here).

We noted that the late check out was listed as a Honors benefit at Hilton’s website benefits matrix as recently as this past April (read more here), but this has been removed today and replaced with “Free WiFi.”

You can access Hilton’s page for Honors benefits here.

UPDATE: Still Honors Benefit (Disclosed In Details & Disclaimers)

After we published this piece, the Hilton spokesperson got back to us regarding this late check-out benefit and confirmed that nothing has changed. It is still listed in the Hilton Honors Member Benefit Details and Disclaimers:

Late Check-out

Late check-out must be requested and is subject to availability.

It has, however, today been removed from the elite benefit matrix that is prominently displayed on Hilton’s website and replaced with “Free WiFi.”.

It is difficult to determine precisely why Hilton would replace late checkout with “Free WiFi” unless the purpose is to merchandise this and require cash payment.

I wouldn’t expect it to stay on the app for too long, as it has already been completely removed from Hilton’s website.

Hilton is in the process of setting the following charges as standard for late check-outs at their affiliated hotels, but properties can obviously change the pricing if they wish: Hilton Standardizes Confirmed Late Check Out Fees Across All Brands In 2026

Conclusion

UPDATE: It is difficult to tell what is happening with this benefit, as it has today been removed from the benefit matrix, but still can be found on the “Disclaimers: and on the app.

There are few benefits for Honors elite members when staying in the United States, and now losing even late checkout, potentially worldwide, is a significant loss.

I do not doubt that in markets where competition is prevalent and hospitality remains a priority, you won’t have an issue with late check-outs, especially for Diamond and Lifetime Diamond members.

Hilton Honors is not as generous a program as IHG, Hyatt, or Marriott when comparing confirmed benefits. This late check-in policy, unlike those of Hyatt and Marriott, has always been based on availability.
