Is “Blade” Moving Forward At Marvel?

After multiple delays and the project seemingly stalled and put on the back burner, it looks like Marvel Studios may finally be reviving their “Blade” movie.

Mahershala Ali was announced as playing Blade in a new MCU movie back in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, but so far has only played him as an uncredited voice cameo in 2021’s “Eternals”.

The film’s development has seen multiple writers and directors come and go with delay after delay hitting the project each time. At last report last year, the film had been pulled from its planned November 2025 release date.

David S. Goyer, who wrote the screenplays for the original “Blade” trilogy, spoke with Variety recently while promoting the third season of “Foundation” and says he’s been asked by friends and fans if he’d get in touch with Marvel to help get the project moving.

However when he did recently reach out, they said they don’t need his help at this time:

“I had my agent call Marvel and say, ‘Do you guys need any help?’ And they said, ‘We love you, but we think we’ve cracked it now, and we’re in a good place.’ And then the latest thing happened. And so no, they haven’t contacted me.”

Goyer adds that while he is unaware of the specifics of the behind-the-scenes issues on the film, he’d still consider aiding production if asked.
