The first reactions for Universal Pictures’ “Jurassic World: Rebirth” have emerged on social media out of the film’s premiere in the UK, with mostly positive takes so far.

One thing getting a lot of praise is the film’s look, which is put down to director Gareth Edwards and cinematographer John Mathieson’s visual style, combined with the film production team choosing to shoot on Kodak film with cameras and anamorphic lenses from Panavision.

Now, Kodak has released a new featurette going into how the production used old school film to get the visual palette of the movie – marking the first time Edwards has shot on 35mm film with all its grain and texture.

Talking about it, Edwards says: “It’s not a perfect representation of reality… It’s a better version of reality. You stood in this amazing place and shot on film. Then you look at the dailies and it looks even better.”

The film marks the return of “Jurassic Park” writer David Koepp who pens the project about an expedition who must extract DNA from three massive prehistoric creatures for a groundbreaking medical breakthrough.

The movie, which opens Wednesday July 2nd, is on track for a $115-135 million five-day opening.
