There’s been plenty of discussion about HBO’s big-budget “Harry Potter” TV series, but a lot of that has centered around a potential boycott of the show over author J.K. Rowling’s politics and views.
HBO has previously indicated it is in business with Rowling regarding the show, the author an executive producer on the series, but the extent of her involvement hasn’t been clear.
Posting on X, she reveals production aims to begin this summer and teased: “I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!.”
Asked if she’s involved in writing this adaptation, she explains: “No, but I’ve worked closely with the extremely talented writers.”
HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys previously addressed those who have concerns about Rowling’s involvement in the new show, saying: “It’s pretty clear that those are her personal, political views. She’s entitled to them. Harry Potter is not secretly being infused with anything. If you want to debate her, you can go on Twitter.”
The new “Harry Potter” series is expected to premiere sometime in 2026.
