“Muppets Most Wanted” director James Bobin is reportedly in talks to direct “Dragon’s Lair,” the upcoming Netflix live-action film adaptation of the iconic 1983 arcade game.
At last report back in 2022, Dan and Kevin Hageman (“The Lego Movie,” “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark”) were tapped to write the script for the project, which took nearly a year of negotiations to come together at the streamer.
The original game followed a knight named Dirk the Daring who must rescue the fetching Princess Daphne from the clutches of the evil dragon known as Singe and the wizard Mordroc.
The most popular game in America at one point, the game boasted movie-style animation from Don Bluth who then went on to direct “The Secret of NIMH” and “All Dogs Go to Heaven”.
Ryan Reynolds remains attached to star as well as produce the feature alongside Roy Lee, Trevor Engelson, Don Bluth, Gary Goldman and Jon Pomeroy are producing.
Bobin’s last directed feature was 2019’s adventure movie “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” but since then has been directing episodes of Disney series like “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” and “The Mysterious Benedict Society”.
