Godzilla Getting an Official LEGO Set Based on Fan-Built Design!

The LEGO Ideas initiative has resulted in a wealth of fan-built concepts being turned into actual LEGO sets, and the LEGO Ideas team has announced this week that a fan-submitted LEGO Godzilla based on Legendary’s Monsterverse designs from Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has been officially approved for consideration for an official set!

The Official Godzilla website announces, “Built by Matthew Esposito, the LEGO Ideas Godzilla was originally submitted in 2023, then resubmitted in 2024 after a rules change welcomed larger set ideas. It has since earned 10,000 required community supporters and has officially been approved by LEGO for consideration as a proper set release.”

Now that Esposito’s Godzilla set has cleared the review process, it will indeed become an official LEGO Ideas set, and it will feature the King of the Monsters’ iconic heat ray breath.

Please note that the images included in this article are of Esposito’s personal build that was submitted to LEGO Ideas, so you can expect that the final product won’t look exactly the same.

Matthew Esposito wrote on the LEGO Ideas platform back when he submitted the design, “I was really blown away by the new looks and appearances of Godzilla in these more recent films. I thought that this new look would translate well into LEGO. I can only imagine what you guys at LEGO would improve on with the model. It would be a dream of mine to witness how you guys would be able to design your version of this model with the pieces at your disposal.”
