Smith To Lead “Rebel Ridge” Director’s Next

Following playing The Riddler in “Gotham,” Chevy Chase in “Saturday Night” and most recently co-starring in HBO’s “Mountainhead,” actor Cory Michael Smith has landed a new gig.
The actor is set to star in the lead role in “October,” the next genre feature from acclaimed “Green Room,” “Rebel Ridge” and “Blue Ruin” director Jeremy Saulnier which has been set up at A24.
Specifics of the role, and the overall story, are under wraps. However the title has been described as a fugitive thriller set during Halloween.
Saulnier will direct from his own script and will produce alongside Rich Peete, Eli Bush and Skei Saulner. Casting for additional roles is underway in what will be his fifth feature.
Though already known for his work elsewhere, Saulnier’s “Rebel Ridge” was so well received on Netflix last year that it put its star Aaron Pierre high on various casting lists.
Smith recently worked with A24 on the Zac Efron-led thriller “Famous” which is in post-production. He also shot the pilot for “The Nightbeast” alongside Tatiana Maslany, and is in Joachim Trier’s new dramedy “Sentimental Value” opening this Fall.
