Fruit Bats announce new album and solo tour: hear “Stuck in My Head Again”

Eric D. Johnson has announced a new Fruit Bats album, Baby Man, which will be out September 12 via Merge. He calls this one an exercise in “minimalist maximalism” and you can preorder the vinyl now.

“It’s pretty different from anything you’ve ever heard from me,” Johnson says. “I wrote and recorded it pretty much all in one week’s time and it’s mostly just my voice and some minimal accompaniment. I reunited with my dear Thom Monahan to make it… so, spare as it may be, it sounds pretty huge and wild. This one is me looking you in the eye up close and whispering some dreams in your ear.” Check out the first single “Stuck in My Head Again” below.

You can also catch Eric on a solo tour this fall which he says will be, “Just me, no opener, beautiful stage design and me telling you stories and singing you songs in an intimate setting.” Dates include Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on November 1. Tickets for all fall dates go on sale Friday, June 20 at 10 AM local time.

Fruit Bats also have dates this summer with Minor Moon, including Brooklyn’s Rockaway Hotel on August 15. All dates are listed below.
