Montblanc teams up with Wes Anderson to create a truly Andersonian fountain pen

Anyone who even has a remote interest in movies and/or pop culture probably get it when you say “Wes Anderson” as a design aesthetic. The acclaimed director has made a name for himself when it comes to creating his distinct style and cinematic world. His design palette has even made its way to AI generators and you can be Wes Andersonified when you use any of these apps. If you mention his name with a pen brand, there will probably be only one answer: Montblanc.

Monthblanc has also made a name for itself in the world of exquisite writing instruments. So of course, it had to be them to create an homage to the award-winning director for their latest collection. The Schreiberling is a limited edition fountain pen that draws direct inspiration from the whimsical and meticulously crafted aesthetic of Anderson’s films. The name means “little writer” in German and sports the vintage charm from Anderson films, this time specifically giving a nod to the year 1969.

Designer: Montblanc

The sleek silhouette is crafted from a deep-blue precious resin, a color often found within the director’s carefully curated palettes. Adding a touch of nostalgic flair, the cap and barrel are adorned with fine, horizontal stripes in a contrasting cream color. This design detail evokes the classic, almost theatrical curtains and vintage luggage often present in Anderson’s films. The cap also refers to the baby pens that Montblanc produced in its early days. The green tin box that houses the pen is also related to Anderson as the coral-colored lining and the color itself is a reference to the tin tool boxes in his films. The presentation box also includes a ruler, a notebook, and a box of refills for your pen. The clip, a vital element of any pen, is equally distinctive. It features a subtle yet charming detail – a miniature film reel motif, meticulously engraved and plated. This thoughtful addition serves as a constant reminder of the pen’s cinematic inspiration.

As a limited edition, with only 1969 pieces available worldwide, the “Schreiberling” is destined to become a highly sought-after collector’s item. The specific number pays homage to the year 1969, the birth year of the director and designer of the pen, adding another layer of significance for collectors. For those captivated by Wes Anderson’s meticulously crafted worlds and Montblanc’s legacy of fine craftsmanship, the “Schreiberling” offers a unique opportunity to own a tangible piece of both. It’s a writing instrument designed to inspire creativity and evoke a sense of timeless charm, making every word written a part of a larger, beautifully composed story.
