According to new Barside Buzz Marvel wants Ryan Gosling for Ghost Rider and Disney boss Bob Iger unhappy at lack of MCU films in 2026. Let’s start with Ghost Rider. Last week we ran a rumor that Marvel were looking to cast a new Ghost Rider to appear in Doomsday/Secret Wars.
Now, insider MTTSH claims that Marvel had their eyes set on a big star, Ryan Gosling.
It remains to be seen if Gosling is interested, or if this is true? However, Gosling has in the past indicated he’d be interested in appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also remains to be seen how much time he has? If you remember, Gosling is now officially the star of Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter. That film is looking to film by this Fall.
Therefore, Star Wars is a big stumbling block to Gosling appearing in either Doomsday or Secret Wars. Let’s wait and see.

Secondly, we have some comments from Jeff Sneider on his latest The Insneider newsletter. Jeff claims he’s heard Disney boss Bob Oger is not happy at the prospect of 2026 only having one MCU film in Doomsday.
“I’m told that Disney’s Bob Iger will be very disappointed if he only gets one film (or 1.25 movies) out of Marvel next year — at the very end of the year, no less — even if it is an Avengers movie with the irresistible hook of RDJ trading in his Iron Man armor to play Doctor Doom.”
It does now seem too late to get anything else ready and out for the early part of the year. The 0.25 Sneider is referring to, is of course Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Disney only gets 25% of profits from that, Sony gets the rest.
