‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Stars to Tour with the Film for 50th Anniversary

The Rocky Horror Picture Show actors Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors), Nell Campbell (Columbia), and Patricia Quinn (Magenta) will celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary with a screening tour.

Audiences in more than 40 cities will have the opportunity to meet the stars, participate in a costume contest, and interact with a live performance by a local shadow cast, who will perform scenes on stage while the movie plays.

Select stops will also feature a traveling museum with artifacts and costumes from the film.

Rocky has changed lives, not just ours, and had a profound effect on how we accept our differences in this world,” Bostwick comments. “We were fitted for our corsets and high heels and enthusiastically started singing songs that have endured for all these years. And ‘dammit Janet!’ I have made nerds cool.”

“50 years ago I auditioned for the Rocky Horror Show at the 60-seat Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in London,” recalls Quinn. “I asked my agent, ‘What’s it about?’ He replied, ‘Something to do with a circus.’ He wasn’t wrong. I’ve been in this circus ever since — Cirque Du Rocky Horror! I’m lucky! We’re all lucky! Don’t dream it, be it.”

“I never would have thought all these years later we’d be touring our little ole film,” adds Campbell. “I’m so thrilled to get back on the road and to meet several generations of fans. Looking forward to a lot of fun just like it always was!”

Tickets for the tour, including VIP meet and greets, are on sale now.

Directed by Jim Sharman and co-written by Richard O’Brien, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is longest-running theatrical release in film history.

In the 1975 cult classic, a squeaky clean couple become stranded at a creepy castle where the inhabitants sing and dance through a bacchanalian romp of murder, sexuality, and cannibalism.

A 4K restoration of the 1975 cult classic is in the works.
