The 17th aircraft in EL AL’s Dreamliner fleet is landing in Israel with a new livery and a name that symbolizes unity and hope. This milestone is part of the airline’s strategic renewal program and its vision to represent Israel with pride in the skies around the world. The 17th Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will land in Israel on May 16 and will join wide-body fleet of EL AL, primarily serving transatlantic routes. The aircraft bears the name “Achinu Kol Beit Yisrael” – Our Brothers, the Entire House of Israel, and features EL AL’s updated livery already seen on parts of its 737 fleet. The new design highlights EL AL’s signature colors and the Israeli flag. With 293 seats, the new aircraft will help EL AL increase capacity and meet growing passenger demand.

Unlike EL AL’s other 45 passenger aircraft, which are all named after Israeli cities and towns, the company chose a different path for this aircraft, naming it “Achinu Kol Beit Yisrael”- a quote from Jewish liturgy expressing a prayer for the return of all hostages to Israel. The full quote reads: “Our brothers, the entire house of Israel, who are in distress and captivity, whether on sea or on land—may God have mercy on them and bring them from distress to relief, from darkness to light, and from bondage to redemption.” The name was chosen as a moving tribute, symbolizing unity and hope.

The colors of the Israeli flag were refreshed on the aircraft’s tail, and EL AL’s logo has been updated as part of the airline’s vision to strengthen its connection with the Israeli public and represent Israel around the world. The new livery is part of EL AL’s ongoing maintenance and rebranding strategy. In addition to its visual upgrade, the paint provides essential protection against corrosion, weather conditions, and natural wear and tear, and is applied in accordance with the strict standards of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

As part of EL AL’s strategic plan, originally published in 2023 and recently updated, the airline is advancing efforts to expand and modernize its fleet, extend its global route network, and adopt cutting-edge technologies. These initiatives are designed to significantly enhance the flight and service experience while reinforcing EL AL’s commitment to environmental responsibility in alignment with global ESG standards. As a key milestone in this transformation, EL AL has signed an agreement to purchase up to nine new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Concurrently, the airline is also set to grow and upgrade its narrow-body fleet, following its August 2024 announcement of the largest aircraft acquisition in its history: up to 31 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
